Considering a career in the ever-growing healthcare field is a choice that promises to be very fulfilling and which provide many options. Today there is a need all across North America for medical billing and transcription specialists to work in hospitals, doctors and dentist offices, rehab facilities and clinics. By going to medical billing school a person will become fulled trained and qualified to submit doctor’s bills to insurance companies. Medical billers are considered to be the backbone of a medical facility as they are responsible for following up on accounts to be sure they are paid. Math, customer service, communication and computer training are emphasized in school and once the coursework is completed, a certification is awarded.
There is also a growing need for medical transcriptionists. These professionals are responsible for transcribing or converting voice recorded reports dictated by doctors or other healthcare professionals into text format. Medical transcription training is required and can be taken a local colleges or online. Programs generally range from 12 to 24 months which result in a certificate or associate degree.
