This season trousers are introducing a whole new range of wardrobe options in the form of various patterns, prints and OTT styles. Floral designs, metallic finishes, abstract prints and graphic shapes are just a few of the styles that have been seen hitting the 2010 catwalks. Anything seems to go, whether contemporary and chic or in your face and futuristic.

In the past trousers have mostly been worn in block colours but now appear in increased detail, whether in the shape of tailored trousers, drain pipe jeans, distressed denim, wet-look leggings or even sparkly harem pants.

Cuts available range from skinny and free flowing to relaxed lounge wear. The popular harem style of previous seasons has been tweaked to form a more toned-down shape, which appears nipped in at the ankles and relaxed at the hips.

This season is all about being brave by daring to clash patterns and prints. Loose fit styles work well with fitted tops whilst relaxed shapes add a little 1940’s glamour to a look, especially when teamed with chunky cocktail rings, a bright lip colour and a pair of vintage ladies shoes.

Urban styles are available in graphic prints and add a young and hippy edge to an outfit.

For a sophisticated look team high-wasted and tailored styles with skyscraper heels.

Another style of trousers to hit this season s runways are the classic styled jodhpurs, which take inspiration from the horse riding sport. This season sees a wide range of styles hit the catwalk in the shape of dark and romantic styles to soft and sophisticated as well the original traditional styles.

Current designers have released a variety of jodhpurs. A few styles seen on the catwalk took on a masculine feel and were seen teamed with cropped blazers. Other styles were paired with over the top vintage style blouses and designer shoes for a more cinematic appeal. For a softer look there were various Jodhpur styles created in crisp summer colours that gave the trouser shape both depth and lift. 1940’s deco inspiration was also offered on the runways in the form of sophisticated evening style fabrics in both neutral tones and a more relaxed cut.
